PROFILE: Graduate: 2006 CON Obesity Summer Boot Camp

Jennifer L. Kuk is currently an Associate Professor at York University and is investigating the relationship between obesity and physical inactivity through clinical human intervention studies and epidemiological approaches. In particular she is interested in the characterization and discrimination of the metabolically normal but obese phenotype. Work is needed to better discriminate obese individuals who are at increased risk for morbidity and mortality events, and thus require obesity intervention as opposed to those who may not. JL Kuk is also currently working on factors that identify successful weight management in bariatric patient populations. As the prevalence of obesity continues to rise, more work is needed to develop and refine therapeutic strategies for the treatment of obesity and its related disorders.
