PROFILE: I am currently a graduate student at Western University. I am working towards my Masters through the Health and Rehabilitation Sciences department and conducting research on the effectiveness of parent-focused interventions on paediatric overweight and obesity.

Prior to returning to graduate school, I worked for the City of Burlington and Town of Oakville as youth programs instructor and community outreach advisor. Physical activity and nutritional literacy has always been of personal interest.

Growing-up overweight myself, obesity has always been a pressing issue. It was not until university that I decided to take charge of my weight and make education/ advocacy a priority.

I plan to continue my pursuit of education and research with a focus on childhood overweight and obesity. With approximately 32% of school-aged children and youth in Canada overweight or obese, childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions and poses a serious public health concern.

I ultimately hope to educate and empower individuals to make healthy evidence-based life choices pertaining to overweight and obesity. The Canadian Obesity Network is an excellent resource made up of like-minded individuals focusing on prevention, treatment, and policy. I am thrilled to be a part of this network.
