PROFILE: Kristi is an Associate Professor and Researcher at the University of Ottawa (Faculty of Health Sciences - Human Kinetics & Faculty of Medicine - Pediatrics). She is also a founding member of the Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group. She has a multidisciplinary background that includes an undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics, a Masters degree in Physiology and a Doctorate in Cellular and Molecular Medicine. Her research team focuses on early lifestyle intervention and upstream prevention of childhood obesity. Specifically, her program of research 'Prevention in the Early Years' explores the Developmental Origins of Health and Disease and the applicability of healthy active living intervention strategies during key phases of growth, development and determination of long term health (intrauterine, preschool, elementary school). She holds a Canadian Institutes of Health Research New Investigator Award from the Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health and is a past recipient of the CON Faculty Supervisor Award!
