PROFILE: Dr. Anthony Levinson holds a BA (Joint Honours English Literature and Philosophy), MA (Critical Theory), MSc (Health Research Methodologies) and MD degrees. He obtained his FRCPC in Psychiatry, with special training in Neuropsychiatry, and is consultant psychiatrist to Dr Mark Tarnopolsky's Neuromuscular/neurometabolic clinic. He is the inaugural chair holder of the John R Evans Chair in Health Sciences Educational Research and Instructional Development, and the Knowledge Translation lead for Professional Education on the Canadian Obesity Network's Scientific Advisory Committee.

Dr. Levinson completed his Clinician Investigator Program research project and Masters degree studies in the Health Research Methodology Program, at McMaster University. His research studies e-learning and the role of new instructional technologies in medical education.

His CIP Research Awards include a Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation Fellowship Award, an Ontario Mental Health Foundation Research Training Fellowship, a NARSAD Young Investigator Award, an AMS-Wilson Senior Fellowship, a Canadian Institutes of Health Research-ACMC RIME Grant and a Canadian Association for Medical Education Certificate of Merit.

Specializing in e-learning research and the cognitive psychology of education in health sciences, Dr Levinson is helping to oversee strategies for health professional education for the network, in particular e-learning for health professional and trainee education.
