10th Annual Obesity Summer Boot Camp

July 18-26, 2015 
Kananaskis, Alberta


This year, we've had another great response from the obesity community – the last nine events received more than 700 applications from obesity students, young researchers, clinical fellows, clinical researchers and young health professionals. 

The 10th Obesity Summer Boot Camp is open to 30 MSc/PhD students, young researchers, clinical fellows, clinical researchers and new professionals in their last year, or within five years of, completing their training.  The boot camp will cover all aspects of obesity, ranging from epidemiology and public health to cell biology, energy regulation, clinical management and health policy.  

The Application submission process for the 2015 Boot Camp is now closed. Please ensure you update your CON membership preferences and opt in to e-mail communications to be notified of the 2016 Boot Camp call for applicants!


5th Learning Retreat on the Principles and Practice of Interdisciplinary Obesity Management for Dietitians

Obesity Management Certificate for Post-Graduates

A unique educational experience utilizing the ONLY bariatric care suite in Canada with a pragmatic look at obesity management and the role of health practitioner (RN, RD, OT, PT, etc.) in the medical management of obesity. ISORAM Winter Course in Bariatric Medicine and Surgery 

February/March, 2016

The  ISORAM course is open to all health professionals who would like to hone their expertise in bariatric medicine and metabolic surgery. The program, which will offer more than 40 hrs of teaching and interactive workshops, will also include ample time for informal networking and scientific exchange with an international faculty.

Canadian Obesity Student Meeting (COSM)

May 1-4, 2016

Join 200 undergraduate, graduate students and new professionals from across Canada and around the world.  

COSM is the only national scientific conference dedicated to supporting obesity trainees and new health professionals(a new professional is defined as within 5 years of graduating from highest degree). 

It is a unique event that gives the stage to up and coming researchers and practitioners and has been organized by students, for students. COSM is intended to offer trainees and new professionals a forum to present to their peers, to network with senior faculty that attend the meeting as observers, and to interact with potential employers.
