The  5As of obesity management , incorporates the conceptual structure of the Best Practices in Weight Management document, the Canadian Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines and the 5As methodological framework to specifically address the needs of overweight and obese patients and improve practitioners’ willingness and efficacy in providing obesity management and counseling to their patients. COSM is the only national scientific conference dedicated to supporting obesity trainees and new health professionals(a new professional is defined as within 5 years of graduating from highest degree). 

It is a unique event that gives the stage to up and coming researchers and practitioners and has been organized by students, for students. COSM is intended to offer trainees and new professionals a forum to present to their peers, to network with senior faculty that attend the meeting as observers, and to interact with potential employers. 

10th Annual Obesity Summer Boot Camp

July 18-26, 2015 
Kananaskis, Alberta

This year, we expect another great response from the obesity community – the last nine events received more than 700 applications from obesity students, young researchers, clinical fellows, clinical researchers and young health professionals. 

The 10th Obesity Summer Boot Camp is open to 30 MSc/PhD students, young researchers, clinical fellows, clinical researchers and new professionals in their last year, or within five years of, completing their training.  The boot camp will cover all aspects of obesity, ranging from epidemiology and public health to cell biology, energy regulation, clinical management and health policy.  

Cost: $2500 (includes syllabus, full program, shared accomodation, meals, breaks and select social events). Space is limited.  2015 Application deadline: 11:59 pm, Monday, March 23, 2015
