The Canadian Obesity Network-Réseau canadien en obésité (CON-RCO) and the University of Alberta are pleased to report that the eighth installment of the Obesity Summer Boot Camps (July 20-28, 2013, Kananaskis, Alberta) was a smash success.
This year, we had another great response from the obesity community – the last eight events received more than 600 applications from obesity students, young researchers, clinical fellows, clinical researchers and young health professionals.
The annual Obesity Summer Boot Camp is open to 24 MSc/PhD students, young researchers, clinical fellows, young clinical researchers in their last year, or within five years of, completing their training. It covers all aspects of obesity, ranging from epidemiology and public health to cell biology, energy regulation, clinical management and health policy.
This year, CON-RCO also partnered with the University of Leipzig to bring in international speakers as well as nine German trainees.
All told, Boot Campers hailed from as far afield as the University of Leipzig, Harvard University, University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, University of Saskatchewan, University of Manitoba, McMaster University, Laurentian University, University of Waterloo, University of Ottawa and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Thanks to all involved. Check back soon for announcements about our 2014 event.
